The distillery came into the Sasse family's possession in 1857 through the marriage of Franz Anton Sasse to Elisabeth Wilmink, whose parents had founded the distillery. In 1918, son Theo Sasse took over management and brought the first steam engine to the small town. In 1918, the brandy monopoly was introduced, enabling the production of industrial alcohol for the masses. Korn was no longer in demand, and many distilleries struggled to survive in the late 1970s.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis was also the case for Feinbrennerei Sasse in 1985.
