In 1840, entrepreneur Philipp Klar learned the art of soap making. As an artisan on his travels, he ended up in Saint Petersburg, where he learned a lot about the production of high-quality soaps. Upon his return, he opened his own soap manufactory. Around the turn of the century, his son Theobald took over the business, developed many recipes that are still used in Heidelberg today, and increased the family business's level of recognition. After the Second World War, Klar remained in family hands, with the next generation continuing the business. Liquid soaps conquered the market, and things became a little quieter around the Klar soap manufactory, but the Klar family continues to hold on to traditional recipes.

Klar Seifen – Palm Oil-Free into the Future

As environmental awareness grows, the demand for good old soap bars is rising again.
