The wine smells of wild berries, raspberries, red plums, and a hint of cherry. The Cantina Tramin Blauburgunder has a velvety-soft texture with fine-grained tannins. It is finely juicy and lively. This ruby-red Burgundy pairs wonderfully with hearty Tyrolean dishes, especially larger roasts and pork, and is excellent with crispy roasted duck breast.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch3\u003eCantina Tramin – Winemaking\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAfter a mild, low-rainfall winter with plenty of sunshine, the 2023 vintage saw a dry March with a comparatively early budbreak. Although spring was rather cool and rainy, June saw a mix of hot sunny days and precipitation. A hot summer and a rainy start to September demanded a lot of work from the winemakers. Fortunately, the weather gods blessed South Tyrol with a golden autumn and ideal conditions for the grape harvest. Thanks to targeted work in the vineyard, as well as the experience and diligence of the cooperative members of the Tramin winery, the numerous challenges of the 2023 vintage were mastered brilliantly. The white wines of the 2023 vintage are cool and delicate, and impress with juicy freshness and crispness. The red wines, especially the Blauburgunder, are distinguished by elegance and finesse.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Blauburgunder vines for this red wine from South Tyrol grow on calcareous and stony clay soils on hillsides between 350 to 450 m above sea level. The grapes were harvested at the time of their optimal physiological ripeness and brought to the winery building in small containers, where they were destemmed before the mash fermented in steel tanks at a controlled temperature (26°C). The mash was submerged and circulated daily to give more expression to the varietal flavors. The aging and maturation took place partly in large oak barrels, partly in barriques, and to a lesser extent in stainless steel tanks for at least 6 months.
