Master distiller Florian transforms hand-picked Mirabelle plums from Nancy into a fragrant and delicate composition in the glass. Only fully ripe, top-quality fruit is processed into delicious spirits in his distillery in Bötzingen, because the experienced distiller is sure of one thing: a good distillate begins with a top-quality fruit. It is no coincidence that his brandies have won national and international awards, and the Mirabelle is one of the classics in the Faude feine Brände range.

Golden-yellow ripe, with the characteristic red blush, the small, aromatic fruits of the Mirabelle from Nancy are picked in several stages. Their delicious, sweet fruits invite you to snack while picking. The fragrant Mirabelle gives the brandy its lovely, perfumed aroma and a subtle stone fruit note. The Faude feine Brände Mirabelle is a fruity gift with a lasting finish for all fruit brandy enthusiasts and Black Forest fans.

Faude Mirabelle – the classic from the Black Forest

Florian Faude founded his home distillery in Bötzingen am Kaiserstuhl in 2006. This was due to chance, as the farm his parents bought for the family included a distilling right. For his brandies of the highest artisanal quality, the trained winemaker sources regionally produced fruit and vegetables, as his homeland is one of the most fertile fruit, wine & vegetable growing regions. Optimal ripeness, shortest transport routes and fresh-daily processing are just some of the location-specific advantages of Faude feine Brände. What the brandy is later supposed to show in the glass must already be brought by the fruit. From local fruit, he distills classics such as Mirabelle and Williams Christ pear brandy, and of course cherry brandy, which no distiller in the Black Forest can do without.

The 'Mirabelle de Nancy' belongs to the rose family and feels particularly at home in the sunny Kaiserstuhl region. Its origin lies in Asia, where it emerged from the crossing of two original plum varieties. Impressed by the vitality of its tree and the juicy-sweet, golden-yellow fruits, the French King René of Anjou brought the fruit, which was later named 'Mirabelle de Nancy', to France in the 15th century. This type of plum, also called yellow greengage, was particularly often cultivated in Lorraine not far from the city of Nancy, to which it owes its name, and from there it came to Germany around 1750. The light-yellow to reddish shining fruits are harvested in late summer from August to mid-September. They should be harvested ripe and crisp, but not too overripe, as they tend to become mealy. Due to their fruit size, they can be compared to sweet cherries.

Brandy or Spirit – Florian explains it

The difference between a brandy and a spirit lies in the manufacturing process. For a fruit brandy, a mash of fermented fruits is made and then distilled. All the alcohol in the finished brandy comes from the sugar present in the fruit, as is the case with this classic Mirabelle brandy. With the good, soft water of the Black Forest, the brandy is then reduced to drinking strength (40% vol. alcohol) and filled into the classic 500ml bottle without cold filtration, without added flavors or colorants.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0998/4960/1350/files/faude-feine-braende-mirabelle_17b98dad-ad49-4dc6-ad01-1a1851b55a1e.jpg?v=1776145547
