Lamb's wool is the wool from the very first shearing of a sheep or lamb. It is particularly soft because the fibers are still very fine. Like virgin wool, it is also obtained from live sheep, usually in spring, as much as possible in one piece. After shearing, the wool is combed and fluffed before being wonderfully dyed beige-brown and spun into yarn. The Klippan Gotland blankets are then woven from this wool. Lamb's wool is said to be hardly scratchy, breathable, and to have excellent insulating properties. It warms in winter and cools in summer.
