Lambswool refers to the wool from the very first shearing of a sheep or lamb. It is particularly soft because the fibers are still very fine. Like virgin wool, it is also usually obtained from live sheep, preferably in spring, in one piece. After shearing, the wool is combed and loosened before being dyed in wonderful pastel shades and spun into yarn. The Klippan Gotland blankets are then woven from this wool. Lambswool is said to be hardly scratchy, breathable, and to have excellent insulating properties. It warms in winter and cools in summer.
