This blanket is partly (1 quarter) made of virgin wool from the Gotland sheep, which was shorn by the Vikings who appreciated its high wool quality, and 3\/4 lambswool. Lambswool refers to the wool from the (very) first shearing of a sheep or lamb. It is particularly soft because the fibers are still very fine. Like virgin wool, it is also obtained from live sheep, usually in spring, as much as possible in one piece. After shearing, the wool is combed and loosened before being dyed in wonderful pastel shades and spun into yarn. The Klippan Gotland blankets are then woven from this wool. Lambswool is said to be hardly scratchy, breathable, and to have excellent insulating properties. It warms in winter and cools in summer. Klippan does everything to make the blanket feel soft; for this, the lambswool is pre-combed again. Nevertheless, this quality is naturally scratchier than a cotton blanket would be, and especially at the beginning, the blanket sheds a bit.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Gotland Stripe blanket can be wonderfully washed at 30 degrees, so you can easily wash your cozy blanket yourself when needed. Remember that natural wool fat has a self-cleaning effect, and you wash it out gradually with each wash.
