Initially, these are dull, grayish spots, usually starting in the center of the pan, until the bottom of the pan is covered with them, and then the many small spots become one large spot. This is completely normal behavior for a cast iron pan. Please do not try to wipe off the patina or remove it in any other way. The more patina, the better the pan fries, because the patina is, so to speak, a natural non-stick coating. When properly seasoned, the pan will last for generations.
