Some vineyards suffered from torrential rain, others from drought. In Ellerstadt, the Schneider family was blessed with the weather. 2023 brought a spring without frost, a very warm summer with precipitation exactly when it was needed. This was topped off by picture-perfect weather during harvest in September with 298 hours of sunshine, double the long-term average. Around 50 harvest helpers ensured one of the highest quality vintages in the estate's history during the harvest from September 4th to October 20th.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe grapes for the Markus Schneider Grauburgunder grow in various vineyards. The heavy loess-loam soils around the estate in Ellerstadt provide power and creaminess, while the higher-lying parcels with clay and limestone-rich colored sandstone soils bring fresh, exotic fruit notes to the wine. The vineyards ripen at sometimes long intervals and are harvested independently of each other, in a very differentiated manner. The ripe, healthy grapes are gently processed in the modern press house.
