This unique Grüner Veltliner initially needs plenty of air and preferably a large glass. It then releases notes of citrus and freshly toasted white bread, along with an abundance of yellow fruits. This is due to the late harvest of fully ripe grapes. It owes its profound minerality to the calcareous marl soils. A hint of spruce resin can also be detected. A magnificent wine with power and opulence, clarity and elegance.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhat makes single-vineyard wines special is the nature of the vineyard with its microclimatic influences. In addition to the soil composition, the slope orientation and the elevation of the vineyard are crucial. Furthermore, the vine material exhibits very distinct attributes. Late selective hand-harvesting and healthy grapes free from botrytis are prerequisites for skin contact, sulfur-free vinification in the first few months, and \"Sur Lie\" aging on the lees.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe vines for the Grüner Veltliner \"Hundsberg\" grow on the Köhlberg at 339 m above sea level. On average, they are 56 years old. The soil consists of primeval sea sediment with clay and loess deposits and has a high lime content. Harvesting took place on 24.10.2016 by hand with only 22 hl yield per hectare. The grapes were selected, destemmed, and gently crushed, then left on the skins for 24 hours before being gently pressed pneumatically. Light sulfuring only occurred after 5 months. Aging and maturation took place in oak barrels for 9 months. Leopold Uibel bottles only 1,250 bottles of this wine per year.
