The blade is finely and thinly ground in the \"Solinger Dünnschliff\" (Solingen thin grind) and \"feingepließtet\" (fine-polished) by hand by true masters. Due to its particularly dense structure, the Herder knife manufacturer uses cherry wood from Germany or Austria. The wood is only oiled and not chemically sealed. This makes it food-safe and open-pored. After the first contact with water, it becomes a little rougher and thus more slip-resistant.
