Lantenhammer Distillery – Bavarian Roots
The Bavarian roots of the Lantenhammer Distillery lie in Hausham in the district of Agatharied. There, Amalie and Josef Lantenhammer founded their own gentian distillery in 1928.
In 1935, they moved to Urtlbach Street in Schliersee. There, a manufactory with small copper stills and a flourishing shop was established, which enjoyed great popularity and was known throughout the region for its spirited treasures. After the distillery closed during World War II, Josef Lantenhammer invested the first German Marks of the currency reform in 1948 to re-establish the business. 40 DM laid the foundation for a multi-generational passion for high-quality distillates.
In 1960, his daughter Annelise Lantenhammer married Siegfried Stette, who, as son-in-law, became part of the Lantenhammer Distillery. The couple had two sons, Florian and Anton Stetter. The trained brewer Florian Stetter joined the company in 1985. After further training as a master distiller, he expanded the distillery into a fine brandy distillery in the following years. With his innovative spirit, he laid the foundation for the success of the Lantenhammer Distillery and set new standards for quality brandies made from the best fruits. A study trip to Scotland awakened in Florian Stetter the vision to create a Bavarian whisky, the Bavarian Single Malt Whisky. In 1999, he began distilling whisky at the Lantenhammer Distillery and named the new brand after the historical designation of the region: SLYRS. In 2010, Anton Stetter took over the management and further developed the distillery with many innovative ideas and products.
With the move from Schliersee to the newly built experience distillery in Hausham in 2014, Lantenhammer became one of the most modern distilleries in Europe. Concrete meets larch wood, design meets comfort – a distillery like no other. The manufactory has thus returned to its roots and, as it did almost 100 years ago, produces the finest distillates and specialties here.
