Belvoir fruit farms - Lemonades and Syrups
Since 1984, Belvoir Fruit Farms has been producing lemonades, syrups and liqueurs in the dreamy landscape of the Vale of Belvoir in the United Kingdom, not far from Belvoir Castle. The founder of Belvoir, Lord John Manners, grew up at Belvoir Castle, the seat of the Duke of Rutland, which is also known from the film Little Lord Fauntleroy or the thriller The Da Vinci Code, and on its estates. Around 90 hectares of fruit fields and hedges in the idyllic area, which is one of the most fertile in England, are farmed by Belvoir Fruit Farms.
In early summer, the air here is particularly fragrant, as countless elderflower bushes bloom along the paths and fields. These inspired Lady Manners in the eighties to pick the blossoms and make elderflower syrup from them. Initially, only relatives and friends received these as gifts, but then the delicious syrup could also be purchased in local farm shops and delicatessens. Belvoir Fruit Farms quickly made a name for itself with this particularly aromatic elderflower syrup.
Today, many helping hands from the Belvoir community are needed to pick the many elderflowers that Belvoir Fruit Farms requires to meet the increased demand. In addition to the elderflower syrup, which is still made according to the traditional recipe, the delicious lemonades such as Elderflower Pressé, Elderflower with Rose, Ginger Beer or the Cucumber Mint Lemonade, which is wonderfully refreshing and simply great as a long drink with gin, are also popular.
Belvoir Fruit Farms - Handmade with Passion
Despite all the success and numerous varieties, one thing has always remained the same: Belvoir is handmade with passion. It is the unique taste of Belvoir Fruit Farms products, which is guaranteed by the freshness of the blossoms. Lord John's son reveals his secret tip: "The secret to a really good elderflower syrup is to use lots of blossoms picked in the sunshine. When they are warm and heavy with yellow pollen, you have to get them into the pot within three minutes." This is precisely what gives Belvoir Fruit Farms lemonades and syrups their delicate and fruity-floral taste and also convinced the jury of the Great Taste Awards, with which Belvoir has been repeatedly honoured.
