Wohlmuth Winery – Kitzeck Styria
The Wohlmuth Winery, located in the heart of Styria, has been cultivated by the Wohlmuth family for over 200 years. Gerhard Wohlmuth Jr. and Gerhard Wohlmuth Sr. know every vineyard, every row of vines, even every single vine inside and out. Yet, every year, all their wines are unique, shaped by the weather and the course of the year. To emphasize this, each vintage features a different artist-designed label.
Wohlmuth Winery – Handcraft Every Year Anew
While the years may differ, it still takes a good 1,200 hours of manual labor until the wine is in the bottle, as the vineyards in Southern Styria around Kitzeck im Sausal are unimaginably steep, with inclines of up to 90%. In this special location, with an Illyrian climate at an altitude of 400 to 610m above sea level, with the Alps to the northwest and the Mediterranean to the southeast, and soils of Paleozoic slate, clay slate, green slate, and quartzite, magnificent, minerally driven white wines are produced from Sauvignon Blanc, Muskateller, Riesling, Pinot Gris, or Pinot Blanc. Wohlmuth Winery is one of the best wineries in Styria, as the top ratings for its wines demonstrate year after year.
