In 1989, Palatinate winemakers Michael Andres and Steffen Mugler tasted sparkling wines – and wondered if sekt could also be made more artisanally. The first 1,000 liters of Riesling became a sekt manufactory that today exclusively ferments in the bottle, ages for a long time on the lees, and disgorges by hand. The result: Palatinate sekts with clear varietal typicity and fine perlage.
