Olasagasti – Canned Fish from Spain
Olasagasti offers high-quality canned fish from Spain, especially the best tuna from the Cantabrian Sea. For 100 years, Olasagasti has been one of the traditional canned fish producers whose philosophy has always been to provide the very best quality. Thus, the company purchases only the finest tuna at the fishing port of Ondarroa, such as Bonito del Norte, which is sustainably and dolphin-friendly caught by line.
Olasagasti – From Italy to Spain and Back
In the 1920s, Salvatore Orlando left Sicily and moved to the Spanish Basque Country. In 1923, he founded two fish factories there in Guetaria and Ondarroa, two small port towns on the Bay of Biscay, and quickly became one of the best producers of canned fish, especially tuna, in all of Spain. But he also maintained a presence in his old homeland of Italy with his brand in Genoa, producing first-class products for the delicatessen market with fish caught in Liguria.
In 1993, his son Ignazio sold his father's company to a US-American company, which continues the business in the spirit of the founder. Even today, fish is caught in the Cantabrian Sea according to old traditions and processed into the finest canned fish. Thus, Olasagasti's products, which have been bringing the pleasure of fish to the table for 100 years, will continue to stand for delicate "Albacore" tuna, white tuna, the delicious "Cimarron," mackerel, and the precious anchovy, which differs so greatly in taste from those found in the Mediterranean.
