Cantine Due Palme – Top Wines from Puglia
With its top wines from Puglia, Cantine Due Palme brings the sunshine of Southern Italy to your wine glass! Located in Cellino San Marco, the Cantine Due Palme winery was founded, or rather brought to life, by Angelo Maci in 1989. At that time, many independent small farmers in Puglia focused on quantity when it came to wine, selling it at low prices as bulk wine, as hardly any winegrower could market their own wine. Angelo Maci was one such winegrower and recognized the potential that a merger would bring.
Stronger Together – Cantine due Palme
He convinced 15 colleagues to jointly found a cooperative, gradually improve quality, and ultimately produce such good wines that they found sufficient demand under the Cantine Due Palme brand. Today, almost 1,000 small farmers with 2,500 hectares of vineyards belong to the winery. Angelo Maci successfully realized his vision of being able to produce the best wines within the framework of a winery. The Selvarossa Riserva has been awarded three glasses multiple times in a row in the Italian wine guide Gambero Rosso. What a success!
The charismatic president of the Cantine remains a tireless pioneer in terms of quality and technology. For several years now, in addition to Primitivo and Negroamaro, almost extinct, indigenous grape varieties such as Susumaniello have been cultivated, and old vine training systems like the traditional Alberello Pugliese, where the vines grow in a single bush form without support stakes or trellises, have been revived to continue producing high-quality, authentic wines from Puglia. Why not try the Cantine Du Palme Serre - the one with the donkey on the label - made from the Susumaniello grape variety.
