The Due Palme Selvarossa Riserva 2019 is a velvety, elegant red wine cuvée made from the Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera grape varieties. The Selvarossa Riserva has been the top wine of Cantine Due Palme for 30 years, and it, including the current vintage, has been awarded 3 glasses in Gambero Rosso multiple times.

On the nose, the dense, almost black-red wine shows a complex bouquet with notes of wild berries, intense cherry aroma, plum jam, dried dates, subtle spice notes, licorice, and dark chocolate, as well as delicate, sweet notes of tobacco. The Selvarossa is characterized equally by elegance and softness, density and power. A wine that, like no other, shows what high wine quality can arise in one of Italy's largest cooperatives. And at a sensational price.

Its perfectly structured body is powerful and warm, robust and spicy. On the palate, it displays opulence, silkiness and harmony, soft tannins and perfectly integrated acidity leading to an endlessly lingering finish. The Selvarossa Riserva is a wine with great structure and a good balance between ripe fruit and silky tannin structure. A complex red wine with good drinkability that pairs equally well with grilled meat as with braised vegetables, a slice of pizza, an antipasti platter or aged cheeses, and for pure wine enjoyment.

The Selvarossa Riserva has always been the flagship of Cantine Due Palme, a symbol of the careful selection of excellent grapes. The Selvarossa Riserva, a blend of Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera, perfectly embodies the Salento region and reflects the Mediterranean atmosphere with all its aromas and warmth.

Negroamaro is a vine that has been cultivated in Salento for a good 3,000 years. It is very dark, almost black, and has a distinctive tart-spicy taste. The name derives from the term "niuro maru". Malvasia Nera impresses with its elegance and its soft, pleasant fruit. Both grape varieties grow in the so-called Alberello training system, meaning as single bushes without trellises or wire frames.

The perfectly formed, well-ripened grapes are harvested by hand into crates, best expressing the terroir – red earth, clay, and graphite. A portion of the grapes is slowly dried to emphasize the body and structure of the wine. Afterward, the wine matures for six months in French oak barrels and several months in the bottle before being released for sale. A wine with enormous potential that lives up to all its awards and top ratings.
