For his culinary skills and efforts regarding Australian food culture, The Original Australian founder Garry Sulivan was awarded the honorary title Black Hat in 2015, a rare distinction from the Australian Guild of Professional Chefs. Garry Sulivan graduated from Le Cordon Bleu culinary school in Paris, worked in top restaurants throughout Europe in his younger years, before returning to Australia and opening several successful restaurants there. He cooked with Michael Roux and Paul Bocuse, but he never forgot his origins in Australian BBQ.
It was therefore natural to capture the special taste of the unique Australian grilling style in sensational BBQ sauces, which have won many awards and prizes, and export them to the world. Today, Garry lives and works in California and continues to develop innovative and authentic products.
