Philipp Kuhn Winery – shaped by primeval, rugged limestone
The Philipp Kuhn winery is undoubtedly one of the beacons in the Palatinate region. The Kuhn winemaking family has lived and worked in Laumersheim since the 17th century. Philipp Kuhn has been running the winery since 1992 – he was just 20 at the time – when his father, seriously ill, put the winery in his son's hands. When the junior was just 16 years old, his father entrusted him with 2500 square meters of vineyards, right in the prestigious Kirschgarten site. A grand gesture and a courageous decision, which was duly rewarded.
Philipp Kuhn Winery – Riesling and Red Wine
Winemaker Philipp Kuhn is one of Germany's top winemakers. He won the German Red Wine Award 10 times and the German Riesling Award 3 times, and his wines are also internationally recognized and awarded. The Philipp Kuhn winery cultivates 30 hectares with vineyards around Lauermsheim, Großkarlbach, and Dirmstein. These are planted with equal parts red and white grape varieties. Well-known individual sites include the Laumersheimer Kirschgarten, the Burgweg in Grosskarlbach, and the Kallstadter Saumagen. In addition to Riesling and Pinot Noir, the Philipp Kuhn winery's grape variety portfolio also includes Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer, and Viognier, as well as Blaufränkisch and Cabernet Franc. Philipp Kuhn's wines represent a classic wine style: high-quality, Francophile, fermented dry, shaped by primeval, rugged limestone.
