Philipp Kuhn Blanc de Noirs – VDP Sekt – Brut Nature
The Philipp Kuhn Blanc de Noirs Sekt 2017 is a VDP Sekt from the Kuhn Winery in the Palatinate, made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes. This white vintage sparkling wine from red grapes already shows a distinct Pinot Noir richness on the nose, followed by aromas of yellow stone fruit, toasted hazelnut, brioche, and fresh undergrowth on the palate. Although the spontaneously fermented Brut Nature is fully fermented through, it surprises with a wonderful extract sweetness and very fine perlage.
The "Palatinate Champagne," as Philipp Kuhn calls his Blanc de Noirs Sekt, is a wonderfully classic aperitif and accompanies light appetizers such as Vitello Tonnato or smoked salmon, as well as creamy mushroom risotto with turbot. Simply a great grower's sparkling wine!
Philipp Kuhn – Sekt Production
This 2017 vintage sparkling wine is made from Pinot Noir grapes from the best Laumersheim and Großkarlbach vineyards. The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand at the right time and carefully transported to the winery in small boxes. Since the red color pigments of the Pinot Noir grape are found exclusively in the skin and not in the flesh, the grapes are pressed extremely gently, resulting in an almost white juice. Even the base wine, 60% of which was aged in small wooden barrels and 40% in stainless steel, has undergone a long 30-month yeast aging process. The sparkling wine production took place with the second fermentation using the traditional bottle fermentation method. After disgorgement, the bottle is refilled with original brut sparkling wine, ensuring the Kuhn Blanc de Noirs Sekt remains beautifully fermented dry. Truly Brut Nature!
