Press and Media – genussland in the Public Eye
genussland in Press, Trade Media and Industry Publications
Since our founding in 2002, we have been delighted with steadily growing media attention. As one of the first gourmet online shops in Germany, as organizers of the deli Festival, and through Kerstin's earlier work as managing director of the Association of Leading Delicatessen Merchants, we are well-connected in the German gourmet food industry – and are regularly consulted by trade and public media as discussion partners, experts, and practical examples.
On this page, we provide an overview of where and in what context genussland has been reported on.
Falstaff – "Best of: Fine, Finer, Gourmet Food"
The renowned gourmet magazine Falstaff featured genussland in its comprehensive industry portrait on the future of the gourmet food trade in Germany. In the article, Kerstin Uhlenbusch describes how the gourmet food trade has changed over the past two decades and what values matter to customers today. Instead of classic luxury products, origin, authenticity, and artisanal quality are increasingly in focus – a development that we at genussland have helped shape from the very beginning.
The Falstaff article impressively shows how owner-managed gourmet food stores are reinventing themselves in the tension between tradition and digitalization – and why businesses like genussland, which embraced e-commerce early on, are particularly well-positioned today.
IDM South Tyrol – Expert Voice on Price Reality in the Delicatessen Market
The South Tyrolean Business Development Agency (IDM South Tyrol) invited Kerstin Uhlenbusch as an industry expert to a specialist event to discuss the new price reality in the delicatessen market. With over 20 years of experience in the gourmet food trade, Kerstin was able to report first-hand on how purchasing behavior and customer expectations have changed.
Her central message: Customers interested in delicatessen do not necessarily seek luxury. They seek quality, good ingredients, and responsible production. And they remain loyal to products that convince them – even if prices have risen. For producers, this means: those who focus on genuine quality and clearly differentiate themselves from supermarket assortments have the best chances in the market.
Pickware – Customer Story on Warehouse Processes and Efficiency
The ERP specialist Pickware has profiled genussland in a detailed customer story. The focus is on how a gourmet food mail-order business with a wide product range – from wine bottles to chip bags to jam jars and cookware – achieves efficient warehouse processes and a delivery accuracy of 99.9 percent.
The story shows how we developed from a stationary gourmet food store in downtown Nordhorn to an online shop shipping throughout Germany with a modern operational building. With a dynamic fixed-location system, mobile barcode scanners, and digitized processes from goods receipt to shipping labels, we have achieved an efficiency increase of up to 70 percent in warehousing and shipping. The Pickware customer story offers an exciting glimpse behind the scenes of our gourmet mail-order business.
Lizenzero – "A good eco-balance defines our products"
In an interview with Lizenzero, the packaging licensing service of the Dual System Interseroh, Kerstin spoke about our approach to the German Packaging Act and our sustainability philosophy. The article highlights how a gourmet food online shop, which sources food from all over Europe and ships throughout Germany, handles the challenges of packaging licensing.
It becomes clear that sustainability at genussland is not just a duty, but a lived conviction. From product selection and packaging materials to our energy concept with geothermal heating and photovoltaics – the interview provides an honest insight into our efforts to keep our ecological footprint as small as possible.
Leni & Hans – Interview about Manufaktur U
The food magazine Leni & Hans featured Kerstin in a detailed founder interview. The discussion revolved around the creation of our in-house soup manufactory, Manufaktur U, the challenges of starting a food business, and how to combine traditional recipes with modern approaches – without compromising on quality and sustainability.
The interview shows a side of genussland that goes beyond pure retail: We are not just retailers, but also producers ourselves. In Manufaktur U, we combine knowledge from over two decades of gourmet food experience with a passion for homemade products.
Trade Press and Industry Media
Our work in the gourmet food trade and Kerstin's previous involvement in the Association of Leading Delicatessen Merchants have been regularly reported on in the most important trade media in the food industry. These include, among others, Lebensmittel Zeitung, fleischwirtschaft, and various regional daily newspapers.
The reporting covers topics such as the development of the German gourmet food market, changing consumer demands for quality and origin, the role of small manufactories in the food trade, and the digitalization of brick-and-mortar retail. As practitioners who operate both a local shop and one of the most experienced gourmet food online shops in Germany, we can report first-hand on these topics.
The deli Festival – our B2B trade fair for delicatessen
A special chapter in our media history is the deli Festival, a B2B trade fair for delicatessen that we initiated. For several years, selected gourmet artisans and small manufactories from all over Europe gathered in the Wandelhalle in Bad Kissingen to present their products to trade visitors – a culinary salon of the highest class.
The deli Festival was covered in numerous trade media and regional newspapers and helped to make small producers visible and foster exchange between manufacturers and retailers. Although we no longer organize the festival today, the contacts and relationships that originated there remain an important part of our network.
Our products in lifestyle and food magazines
What we are particularly pleased about: Editors of major lifestyle, food, and women's magazines repeatedly discover products from our range and present them to their readers – be it as a gift idea, a seasonal recommendation, or a culinary discovery. The editors link directly to our shop, so that the featured products can be conveniently ordered from us.
Magazines that have already recommended genussland products include:
Der Feinschmecker – Germany's leading gourmet magazine and a special accolade for us as gourmet food retailers. When the editorial team of Der Feinschmecker recommends products from our range, it confirms our commitment to the highest quality.
Food and Travel – The magazine for everyone who combines indulgence and travel has presented products from our shop as culinary discoveries. This is exactly what genussland stands for: bringing the best specialties from Europe to your home.
ELLE and ELLE Decoration – The fact that our products also appear in the most renowned lifestyle and interior design magazines shows that good food and beautiful living belong together. At genussland, you will find both.
Living at Home – The magazine for a beautiful home has presented our products as recommendations for moments of indulgence within your own four walls.
Lust auf Genuss – A magazine whose name fits us like no other. We are delighted that the editorial team discovered and recommended products from our range.
Lea and Funkuhr – Our products have also appeared as tips and recommendations in popular women's magazines. This shows that hand-picked gourmet food is no longer a niche topic, but appeals to a broad audience.
These editorial recommendations are always unsolicited and unpaid. We do not place advertisements to obtain product placements. When editorial teams feature our products, it is because they are convinced of their quality – and that is the greatest compliment to us.
Grafschaft Bentheim – Regionally rooted
As a company based in Nordhorn, we are also present in regional reporting. The Grafschaft Bentheim district has included us in its company directory as a sustainable company and highlights, among other things, our photovoltaic systems, with whose green electricity we also operate a public e-charging station at our location – free of charge for customers who wish to charge their electric vehicle while shopping.
This regional rootedness is important to us. We are a Nordhorn company that ships gourmet food throughout Germany from here – but has never forgotten our home.
