Fred Loimer Winery – Wine from the Kamptal
The Fred Loimer winery is located in Langenlois in the Austrian wine-growing region of Kamptal. Since 2005, Fred Loimer has been cultivating around 45 hectares of vineyards biodynamically and with a respectful approach to soil, plants, animals, and humans. The winery is one of the top wineries in the region and throughout Austria. Grüner Veltliner clearly plays the main role in the grape variety spectrum, with the good sites like Loiserberg, Käferberg, and Spiegel being planted with it. In the best sites of the winery, Steinmaasl, Seeberg, and Heiligenstein, you'll find Riesling, the winemaker's favorite variety. A good 20% of the area is reserved for red grape varieties, such as Pinot Noir or Zweigelt.
Fred Loimer Winery – biodynamic with respect
In Gumpoldskirchen, Fred Loimer cultivates another 9 hectares with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, as well as Zierfandler and Rotgipfler. With his "Achtung" (Respect) line, Fred impressively demonstrates how natural wine can taste when there is minimal intervention in winemaking: skin-fermented, unfiltered, unfined, and without the addition of sulfur. All respect! His latest project is sparkling wine production, and here too, the quality of the sparkling wine and the complexity of its aromas and mouthfeel are impressive. His Große Reserve Blanc de Blanc spent 5 years on the lees. Those who have such patience are rewarded with top ratings and much respect.
