Pour yourself a glass of Loimer Grüner Veltliner Kamptal 2025
The Loimer Grüner Veltliner Kamptal DAC 2025 is a fresh, elegant organic white wine from Austria. On the nose, this Grüner Veltliner from Weingut Fred Loimer shows dried yellow apples and orange, with a hint of white pepper and cardamom. With a little air, marigold and clover appear, followed by pear pulp and a touch of lemon confit. On the palate, it remains beautifully balanced: dry with a charming extract sweetness, juicy and mineral-salty, carried by vital momentum. A regional wine that represents the Kamptal with flying colors.
Its slender body makes it an ideal accompaniment to light appetizers and an appetizing aperitif. With fried dishes like Wiener Schnitzel, it fully expresses its freshness.
The 2025 Vintage in Kamptal
A very dry winter was followed by a year with well-distributed rainfall. Flowering began on June 10th and continued for three weeks in dry weather. A warm summer lasted until the end of July, before August turned cooler. The harvest was calm: The Grüner Veltliner arrived in the cellar perfectly healthy and with moderate sugar ripeness from mid-September until October 10th. This resulted in a classic Kamptal wine with precise aromatics, pure fruit, and fresh acidity.
Fred Loimer – Winemaking
The grapes come from vineyards around Langenlois, the home of Weingut Fred Loimer. The vines, up to 60 years old, are predominantly rooted in loess, with a small portion in weathered gneiss soils. Harvesting was done by hand, selectively into small 20-kg crates. After mostly no maceration – around 20% with a short maceration period of a maximum of two hours – whole-cluster pressing and spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks followed. The young wine then matured on fine lees for four months before being bottled for the first time in March 2026.
