Riesling Kamptal DAC 2025 – Organic Wine by Fred Loimer
The Loimer Riesling Kamptal DAC 2025 is a dry organic white wine from Austria. On the nose, this Riesling from the Fred Loimer winery offers aromas of juicy peach, redcurrant, and candied lemon, with a hint of wildflower honey. On the palate, it remains dry, with a juicy melt, clear stone fruit and citrus notes, and a piquant acidity. A Riesling that represents the Kamptal with lively drinkability, elegant fruit, and distinct varietal character.
It is a versatile companion for pan-fried fish, light poultry, or Asian-spiced dishes. Those looking for a lush, opulent Riesling type will be disappointed: this wine focuses on freshness and precision rather than power.
The 2025 Vintage in Kamptal
A dry winter was followed by a year of balanced rainfall. After a three-week flowering period starting on June 10th and a warm summer, a cooler August brought freshness back. The Riesling ripened slowly and was harvested in excellent health in mid-October – ideal conditions for vibrant acidity and clear fruit.
Fred Loimer – Winemaking
The grapes come from vineyards around Langenlois. The vines, up to 50 years old, are rooted primarily in the primary rock Gneiss, with a smaller portion in gravel and loess. Harvesting was done by hand, selectively into small 20-kg crates. After about four hours of maceration, whole-bunch pressing followed, and spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The young wine rested on its full lees until January and matured on its fine lees until bottling at the end of April 2026.
