Cultivation and Processing

Do you love white wine with character? The Wieninger Nussberg Grüner Veltliner 2022 will awaken your senses. From the sunny slopes of Vienna directly to your home, this wine is the quintessence of Austrian wine tradition.

The grapes for this Viennese local wine grow on old vines in two vineyards on the famous Nussberg: Ried Serfellner and Ried Weisleiten. The soils consist of calcareous shell limestone with limestone in the subsoil. In Ried Wiesleiten, loamy and iron-rich soil brings darker fruit and spice to the wine.

These vineyards have been managed according to biodynamic principles since 2008. Practicing biodynamic viticulture is not just a method, but a philosophy of life. Fritz Wieninger views the soil, the plants, and the entire operation as a harmonious whole, a kind of circular economy where everything is interconnected. The biodynamic preparations, which are of natural origin, harmonize all organisms involved in the process, leading to greater resilience of the vines and higher wine quality.

Harvested from the best sites of the Nussberg, this Grüner Veltliner benefits from calcareous soils and a unique microclimate. Careful hand-picking, 3 hours of skin contact, gentle pressing, and spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks reflect the winery's philosophy. To bring out the special characteristics of the terroir, a small portion was aged in large wooden barrels.

Wieninger – A Tradition of Excellence

Winery Wieninger masterfully expresses Vienna's unique terroir in its wines. Every sip reveals the distinctiveness of the soil, climate, and grape variety. The love for nature and wine is reflected in every glass. Fritz Wieninger has managed his parents' winery for over 30 years and has led it to international success. With a strong commitment to biodynamic practices, Winery Wieninger produces wines that not only taste good but are also good for the environment. This sustainable approach helps preserve the purity and authenticity of every wine.
