naked rosé 2022 - Organic Rosé Wine by Gernot Heinrich
The Gernot Heinrich naked rosé 2022 is an unfiltered organic wine made from red Blaufränkisch grapes, grown on fossil-rich limestone and slate soils on southeast-facing slopes inclined towards Lake Neusiedl in the Leitha Mountains in Burgenland, Austria.
The naked rosé from Weingut Heinrich is a rosé of a special kind. Intense in color, intense in aromas, intense in structure on the palate. With vibrant acidity, light berry fruit, and a smoky finish. The naked rosé is the consistent continuation of the biodynamic path "letting wines be" taken by Heike and Gernot Heinrich, making this rosé far from a quaffable, superficial patio wine. Bone dry and simply a rosé for the connoisseur.
Heike and Gernot Heinrich say about their naked rosé: "Devil take it! Delightfully good. With the comfort of a vibrating, smoky, yet warm-hearted voice and the charisma of a Hildegard Knef, the essence of naked rosé moves far from the kitsch of its superficial rosé sisters. Fruit-laden, yet uninhibited and straightforward with almost lascivious curves, "not to be alone and yet to be free" shall be the credo under which red roses shall rain for you."
Gernot Heinrich – Winemaking
The Blaufränkisch grapes, hand-picked at the end of September 2022, come from vineyards that Heike and Gernot Heinrich cultivate biodynamically with great manual effort and care. After harvesting, the grapes remain on the skins for a few hours before being pressed directly, mostly as whole cluster pressing. After spontaneous fermentation and malolactic fermentation, which converts the more aggressive malic acid into milder lactic acid, the young wine remains for 5 months in clay amphorae on its full lees before being bottled unfiltered at the end of March 2023 with minimal sulfur addition.
