Gernot Heinrich Pinot Noir – Pinot Noir from Burgenland
The Gernot Heinrich Pinot Noir 2023 is an organic red wine made from Pinot Noir grapes, grown partly on limestone-rich soils near the cooling forest edge of the Leitha Mountains and on the sun-drenched slopes at the southeastern edge of the Parndorf Plain with gravelly-sandy-loamy sedimentary soils, i.e., on both sides of Lake Neusiedl in the Austrian Burgenland region.
The Pinot Noir from Weingut Heinrich is a lean, vibrant Pinot Noir, translucent in color, delicate in aroma with red berry fruit meeting meadow herbs and orange zest, and on the palate encountering vibrant acidity and gentle tannins.
Gernot Heinrich – Winemaking
The Pinot Noir grapes, hand-picked in early September 2023, come from both sides of Lake Neusiedl, from the Leitha Mountains and the Parndorf Plain. Heike and Gernot Heinrich cultivate their vineyards organically-biologically or biodynamically with a lot of manual labor and care. After harvesting, the grapes remain on the mash in wooden fermentation vats for two weeks, then are gently pressed in a basket press and spontaneously fermented. The Pinot Noir matured for 7 months in wooden fermentation vats on natural lees before being bottled in early May 2024.
