The Artisans

The silent hero of many categories is the Seesucht Manufaktur in the Mecklenburg Lake District. There, a small workshop turns cooking spoons, salad servers, and cutting boards from locally harvested oak, ash, and cherry wood – each piece by hand, each piece treated with cooking oil, none lacquered. Once you stir with them, you'll gradually replace your plastic and silicone spatulas.

Our Tip: A wooden board becomes beautiful if you rub it thinly with cooking oil every few weeks and let it soak overnight. This protects it from drying out and cracking and gives it the dark patina that eventually makes the board indistinguishable from a piece of furniture.
