Placemats & Napkins

Some tables are too beautiful for a tablecloth. The dark oak you searched for three years, the oiled walnut buffet from the carpenter, the narrow bistro table with the marble top - it would be a shame to hide the wood grain under a white tablecloth on such tables.

This is where placemats come in. Individually placed at each setting, with the table itself in between - and suddenly the table has structure without obscuring its architecture.

Fabric or Linen, Both Ways Are Right

Ekelund Master Weavers from Sweden weaves jacquard placemats from half-linen - sturdy, stackable, washable at 60 °C. They lie so smoothly on the table that plates don't slip, and they can handle sauce drips without immediately being ruined.

Linen Tales from Lithuania takes a different approach: pure linen, pre-washed and soft, in muted colors ranging from natural to mustard to a deep rust tone. This is the casual Scandinavian look - for hosts who seek beauty in simplicity.

Matching: Napkins

Cloth napkins are an underestimated luxury. A linen napkin lasts decades, gets softer with each wash, and always looks thoughtful when guests are present, not like an effort. Our napkins come from the same weavers as the placemats - and therefore match in color.

Our tip: For everyday use, four to six cloth napkins in a neutral color are sufficient - perhaps natural linen or graphite. You can then add colorful and festive napkins specifically for special evenings. This way, you always have the right mix without owning a drawer full of napkins.
