Rings Syrah Réserve – Red Wine Sensation from the Palatinate

The Rings Syrah Réserve 2019 is a dry, brilliant red wine with great potential from the Palatinate. The Syrah, the great grape of the Rhône, grows in Freinsheim vineyards, which are personally cultivated by the Rings brothers Andreas and Steffen, from pruning to harvest. The warm microclimate of Freinsheim's sand and gravel soils is planted with French vine material. The Rings Syrah Réserve is an exceptional wine, now bottled only in special years. It shows the characteristics of its varietal and the soils on which it grew. On the nose, dark forest berries, night-black blackberries, ripe cherries and cassis, dark chocolate and smoked bacon, sweet tobacco, and vanilla. On the palate, the red wine is wonderfully complex and multi-layered with well-balanced acidity, soft tannins, and great length. A red wine sensation from the Palatinate.

Rings – Winemaking

The Rings brothers place great importance on healthy soils, as only from them can healthy vines stand and healthy grapes grow. They begin early with the sowing of buckwheat, clover, and radish, which prevents soil erosion, attracts beneficial insects, and retains moisture in the soil, which is revitalized with the application of horse manure as a natural fertilizer. Leaf work is also important for the quality of the wine: double shoots are manually removed, and depending on the weather conditions, the grapes are defoliated and thinned out to aerate them. The grapes are 100% hand-picked at the optimal harvest time, sorted, selected, and destemmed again at the winery. Without pumping, the grapes are placed in their wooden fermentation vats, known as "cuves." After a short maceration period, natural yeasts are allowed to act and initiate spontaneous fermentation. Aging took place partly in used barriques and partly in new barriques, each for 20 months. This magnificent Rings Syrah Réserve is bottled unfiltered.
