The Chardonnay & Weißburgunder 2024 from Weingut Rings is a dry VDP.Gutswein made from grapes from Freinsheim and Kallstadt vineyards in the Pfalz region. These vineyards are cultivated by Andreas and Steffen Rings using natural methods. The white wine is organically certified. The skillful use of wood gives the Rings Chardonnay Weißburgunder spice and power. The white Burgundy Cuvée is finely spicy and very elegant even on the nose. On the palate, it is dry, taut, with great minerality and a delicate melt.

Rings – Winemaking

The Rings brothers place great importance on healthy soils, vines, and grapes. They start early by sowing buckwheat, clover, and radish, which prevents soil erosion, attracts beneficial insects, and retains moisture in the soil, which is revitalized with the application of horse manure as a natural fertilizer. Canopy management is also important for the quality of the wine: double shoots are removed manually, and depending on the weather, the grapes are defoliated and thinned to aerate them. The grapes are hand-picked and selected at the optimal harvest time and partially pressed as whole clusters. After a short maceration period, natural yeasts are allowed to work and initiate spontaneous fermentation. The Chardonnay is aged in 500l tonneau wooden barrels, which Andreas and Steffen manage very well, while the Weißburgunder is aged in stainless steel tanks. This makes the wine more complex, multifaceted, and aromatic in a positive sense.
