Karl May Wine – Blutsbruder Weiß – [BIO]

The Karl May wine Blutsbruder Weiß 2021 is a dry cuvée from the winery of Fritz and Peter May in Osthofen in Rheinhessen. Pinot Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc give the Karl May Blutsbruder Weiß smoothness and crisp freshness. On the nose, the scent of ripe stone fruit and exotic fruit aromas, along with delicate floral aromas and a fine herbal spice. Its fine acidity gives it a juicy freshness, reminiscent of a babbling mountain stream in the Rocky Mountains. It tastes great with many dishes from modern, light cuisine, but also works well by the campfire.

When two brothers, in Winnetou-Old-Shatterhand-like harmony, cultivate a winery in the eternal expanse of the Wonnegau that is genuinely and honestly named Karl May, there simply must be wines called BLUTSBRUDER (Blood Brother). After the red and white Blutsbruder have become true classics, the time was ripe for a strong rosé. The Blutsbruder Weiß is slightly less dry than its two brothers. Yeeehaa! In all three Blutsbruder cuvées, a local grape variety is married with an international one.

It is the perfect wine for a lovely evening, an uncomplicated companion to summer salads, light dishes with white meat, poultry, or fish. The white wine is dry and not too alcoholic. A wonderfully balanced white wine from Rheinhessen, which perfectly accompanies any blood brotherhood. Well done!

Karl May Wine – Preparation

The vines for this white wine cuvée from the Karl May winery grow in organically managed vineyards in various locations with sandy loess-loam soils. To harvest ripe grapes in autumn, Fritz and Peter May begin in January with gentle pruning and early defoliation of the grape zone for optimal sun exposure, as well as yield reduction through green harvesting. Selective manual harvesting of the grapes takes place in several passes. The path to the new winery is not far, where the grapes are gently processed further. After a short maceration period, the mash is gently pressed, and the must is spontaneously fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks. A small portion was fermented in barriques and then matured on fine lees for 6 months. This brings complexity, fullness, and creaminess to the wine.
