This gift contains two ciders from the same producer — two characters, one craft:

• Maffei Estate Winery – Iduna Apple Cider – 750 ml, 5% vol alcohol. Straw-yellow apple sparkling wine made from three South Tyrolean apple varieties, finely sparkling, with fruity sweetness. Awarded Gold at the CiderWorld Award 2020.
• Maffei Estate Winery – Melino Apple Cider with Raspberry – 750 ml, 3% vol alcohol. Apple cider refined with raspberries and ginger, sparkling, in pink and rosé tones. Silver medal at the Cider World Award.

How the two ciders complement each other

Iduna and Melino come from the same pressure tank fermentation in Kurtinig — yet they differ significantly. Iduna is the purer, more robust cider: three South Tyrolean apple varieties, brilliantly straw-yellow, with clear apple fruit. Melino is its fruitier sister: delicate pink and rosé tones from the raspberry, a hint of ginger for a special, lightly refreshing note, and even milder in alcohol content at 3% vol. Both ciders are produced without added sugar, flavor enhancers, or preservatives.

From the Maffei Estate Winery in Kurtinig

In the sunny South Tyrolean lowlands, the Maffei family has been cultivating three hectares of apple orchards with old trees using sustainable methods for four generations. Owner and oenologist Giorgio Maffei, with around thirty years of experience in sparkling wine production, hand-picks the best apples. After harvesting, they are gently pressed, and the must is naturally fermented by yeast in pressure tanks — and that's where the fine sparkle also develops, because the pressure tanks bind the natural carbon dioxide in the cider. Daughter Stephanie Maffei shapes the current direction of the winery.
