Cotton Liquid Soap from Castelbel – Craftsmanship from Portugal

The production of natural soaps has a 300-year-old tradition in Portugal. Castelbel began in 1999 when Aquiles Barros, a distinguished professor of chemistry and former employee of the Ach Brito soap factory, decided to create something new and his own. Not far from the port city of Porto in northern Portugal lies the small village of Castêlo da Maia, which was not only the company's headquarters but also its namesake: Castelbel – beautiful castle.

Initially, Castelbel produced private labels for a New York department store, and later for Galleries Lafayette in Paris. The Castelbel name remained hidden. Since 2006, the Castelbel Ambiente series (Lavender, Rose, Verbena) has been available, and its success story has been unfolding. The wonderful room fragrances in exquisite glass diffusers, exported from Portugal all over the world, have made a significant contribution to this. A year later, the exclusive Portus Cale series followed, which, with its unique Portuguese product design, has found admirers not only here but also in Dubai, South Africa, and Japan, and delights museum visitors in the restrooms of the Louvre in Paris.
