Ekelund Frida Kahlo – Kitchen Towel
Frida Kahlo is one of the most important Latin American artists of the 20th century. As a contemporary witness, she experienced the most important social and artistic movement in Mexican history during and after the Cristiada, the cultural struggle after the Mexican Revolution.
The iconic artist was born on July 6, 1907, in Mexico City and died on July 13, 1954, also in Mexico City. Since 1959, her parents' house, also known as Casa Azul, has housed the Frida Kahlo Museum, which displays many of her paintings, her clothes, and indigenous jewelry.
Inspired by Mexican folklore, Frida Kahlo wears the Tehuana costume in many of her self-portraits, which refers to her mestizo ancestry and was style-defining. She probably owed her creativity to her father, the German-Mexican photographer Guillermo Kahlo. With her flower-adorned hairstyle, exaggerated blush, and strong eyebrows, she herself became a work of art. In her paintings, characterized by a very autobiographical style, she processed the highs but above all the lows that life gave her: illness, death, suffering, love, and life - Viva la Vida. Thus, the artist, who always advocated for women's rights, with her strength, endurance, and fearlessness, is a role model for people around the world.

Weaving Art from Sweden – in Nordic Design
Ekelund home textiles combine modern Nordic design with traditional weaving art from Sweden. The Ekelund tablecloth and all other textiles have been produced exclusively in their own factory in Horred, Sweden, since 1692. All patterns are woven using a patented innovative method, the Rainbow method, in which 8 colored threads are woven so that the motif appears in different colors on the reverse side. Ekelund fabrics are made from 100% organically certified cotton and linen. All materials comply with the requirements of GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), the world's leading standard for environmentally certified textiles made from controlled organically grown fibers.
