Franzi Spaghettieis Liqueur. Cream liqueur with vanilla ice cream and strawberry from Bremen.

Franzi Spaghettieis Liqueur is a creamy liqueur from the Bremen brand NORK, which tastes like vanilla ice cream with strawberry sauce. Not a clear spirit, not a bitter digestif, not a plain schnapps.

Spaghettieis Liqueur is a cream liqueur from NORK that brings the ice cream parlor's most popular ice cream into a glass. In the glass, it appears light and velvety, with the scent of vanilla and sun-ripened strawberries. The first sip awakens memories of hot afternoons at the ice cream stand, of light cream and fruity sauce. Sweet, playful, and summery, yet with the calm creaminess of a good cream liqueur. Anyone who loved spaghettieis as a child will immediately recognize the taste.

Vanilla, cream, and ripe strawberry

In the glass, the liqueur appears light and creamy. It smells of vanilla ice cream and strawberry sauce, like a freshly pressed portion on a warm afternoon.

On the palate, it is soft and full-bodied. The sweet strawberry note is on top, underneath rests a warm vanilla, carried by a fine creaminess. In the long, velvety finish, a subtle almond note resonates. It alludes to the grated white chocolate that replaces Parmesan in real spaghettieis.

This cream liqueur is sweet, but never sticky, a gentle and mild companion. The fruit remains recognizable and does not turn artificial, as happens with many strawberry liqueurs. Those who expect a bitter, dry digestif will find it too sweet. It is not intended as a clear spirit for in-between.

How to enjoy it ice-cold

It tastes best ice-cold from the freezer, neat in a small glass. The colder it is served, the rounder the cream appears and the clearer the vanilla and strawberry emerge.

Pour it generously over a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and the liqueur becomes an affogato in a summery way. Poured into cold milk, it makes a quick milkshake; a spoon on iced coffee becomes a dollop of cream. Drizzled over pancakes, waffles, or a slice of cheesecake, it replaces the strawberry mirror.

For a glass on the terrace, a shot over crushed ice, topped with cold milk or a splash of Prosecco, is enough. This creates the Spaghettieis-Spritz. The matching glass is the small schnapps glass. If you like it fruity and fresh, place the Lemon Roll Liqueur from the same summer edition next to it.

Our tip: For a quick dessert, press a scoop of vanilla ice cream through a potato or spaetzle press directly into a glass. Top with two tablespoons of liqueur and a few fresh strawberries, and the spaghettieis is ready to spoon.

From experience: Serve it at 8 to 10 degrees and store the opened bottle in the refrigerator, where the creaminess is best preserved. It is not suitable for a hearty meal; its place is dessert at the end of the evening.

An ice cream parlor idea from Mannheim

Behind Franzi is the Bremen brand NORK. Since 2016, three friends have been running the young grain and liqueur house, focusing on mild, honest recipes instead of dusty images.

For the liqueurs, NORK collaborates with the traditional fine grain distillery Sasse. Over the years, clear double grains have been transformed into playful, award-winning liqueurs, from lemon-ginger to egg liqueur. The Spaghettieis Liqueur belongs to the summery Franzi Edition, which translates well-known desserts into a glass.

The actual idea goes back further. Dario Fontanella invented spaghettieis in 1969 in his family's ice cream parlor in Mannheim, when he pressed vanilla ice cream through a spaetzle press and poured strawberry sauce over it. Vanilla became pasta, strawberry pulp became sauce, and grated white chocolate became Parmesan. The deception was so convincing that children were initially skeptical. Today, spaghettieis is on every German ice cream menu, and exactly this image is now in the bottle.

A cream liqueur is an emulsion of cream, sugar, and alcohol, finely blended into a stable, velvety liquid. This bond is delicate, as heat and light will cloud it over time, while cool storage keeps it creamy. The alcohol acts as a natural preservative for the cream.

More childhood memory than schnapps

This liqueur recreates a specific dessert, not just a flavor. Vanilla, strawberry, and a hint of almond together create the familiar image of the ice cream parlor that almost everyone immediately visualizes.

As a small gift, it suits anyone who still remembers the spaghettieis of their childhood, whether as a souvenir for a summer evening or as a playful surprise alongside a bag of ice cream. With the matching glass, it becomes a small gift set. Further velvety varieties can be found among our cream liqueurs, from egg liqueur to Franzbrötchen.

A liqueur for all who want to taste the spaghettieis of their childhood again, ice-cold in a glass or over their favorite scoop of vanilla ice cream.
