Apricot Gift Set in a 2-Piece Box. Four South Tyrolean Specialties Between Fruit, Nut, and Tonka Bean.

Apricot Gift Set in a 2-Piece Box is a hand-picked selection of four artisanal specialties from three South Tyrolean manufactories, presented in a high-quality gift box. Not an anonymous standard basket, no industrial sweets, no random assortment.

Apricot Gift Set in a 2-Piece Box is a gourmet set from genussland.de featuring an apple-apricot juice from Kohl Manufaktur, two single-variety fruit spreads from Alpe Pragas, and a smooth almond-tonka cream from Oberhöller. Upon opening the box, one first sees the warm golden yellow of the apricot jam. Beside it, the deep red of the strawberry shines, followed by the light, almost ivory-colored almond cream. In the background stands the slender glass bottle with the fruity, clear juice. Four jars, three producers, one recognizable signature: South Tyrolean, fruit-focused, artisanal. The entire set weighs about one and a half kilograms and is securely packed for postal shipping.

Four Aromas, One Clear Common Thread

The set explores four different flavor profiles, linked by the apricot as a recurring theme. The apple-apricot juice opens bright and slender. The fine acidity of the mountain apple carries the honey-sweet apricot without overpowering it. Rather, it makes the fruit leaner and longer in the finish. In the glass, the juice appears naturally cloudy with a hint of amber. The nose detects fresh apple, followed by a warm hint of ripe apricot.

The apricot fruit spread from Alpe Pragas is full-bodied and soft. With 75 percent fruit content, it is much closer to the fruit than a classic jam. You taste the apricot purely first, then the subtle sweetness. The consistency is chunky and retains the fruit's fiber. The strawberry provides a deliberate counterpoint. It presents itself red, juicy, and slightly acidic in the finish. Its natural fruit acid balances the sweetness.

Oberhöller's almond-tonka cream completes the circle from a different angle. It is milky-soft, with the warm, vanilla-like aroma of tonka bean. Those who dislike the distinct coumarin character of tonka bean should avoid it. The note here is clearly in the foreground, not subtly in the background. Those expecting only pure almond paste will find the composition too unique.

From Long Breakfasts to Small Gestures of Appreciation

The set unfolds wherever there is time for enjoyment. At the weekend breakfast table, during brunch, or on a late Sunday afternoon. Serve the apple-apricot juice well chilled in a narrow glass. Pure as a non-alcoholic aperitif or with warm brioche and fresh fruit. It also makes an impression as a base for a non-alcoholic spritz with a little soda water and a sprig of rosemary.

The apricot fruit spread goes well with buttered toast, thin croissants, or warm quark strudel. About one tablespoon per slice is enough—more doesn't support the fruit. It also shows an unusual combination with young sheep's cheese or aged hard cheese. The strawberry spread is particularly effective with buttermilk pancakes. It also unfolds its depth as a filling between two shortcrust biscuits.

The almond-tonka cream easily leaves the breakfast table. A small teaspoon on vanilla pastries, stirred into an espresso, or as a delicate topping on a slice of pear. It also brings surprising depth as a glaze for simple vanilla ice cream. The tonka bean noticeably enhances any mild sweetness.

From experience: Consciously save the almond-tonka cream for the end of a breakfast. Otherwise, its warm aroma will overpower the finer apricot fruit on the tongue. Those who eat purely plant-based should note that the almond cream contains milk. It is not suitable for a vegan table.

Three Manufactories, One Valley as a Flavor Coordinate

The three producers come from South Tyrol and share an understanding of craftsmanship. Small batches, single-variety raw materials, slow processing. Kohl Manufaktur in Unterinn on the Ritten near Bolzano specializes in mountain apple juice from its own cultivation. The farm is located at an altitude of about 900 meters. The cool nights and sunny days clearly shape the acidity-sweetness balance of the mountain apples. The apricot for the "Apple Juice with Apricot" cuvée comes from traditional cultivation in the region. After pressing, it is gently blended with the mountain apple juice. Without concentrates, without added sugar, without artificial flavors.

Alpe Pragas in the Prags Valley processes its fruits using a gentle vacuum process. At low temperatures, instead of cooking them down harshly. This explains the high fruit content of 75 percent in both spreads. It also explains the fresh, almost uncooked taste impression. The apricots primarily come from the Vinschgau valley. One of the driest and sunniest valleys north of the Alps, where apricots have thrived for centuries. The Vinschgau records around 300 sunny days a year and is one of the driest valleys in the Alpine arc. This dryness concentrates the aroma of the fruit and reduces the need for treatment agents in cultivation.

Confiserie Oberhöller in Lana processes Sicilian almonds for its almond-tonka cream. These are ground into a fine paste. It is bound with white chocolate and grated tonka bean. The tonka bean is the seed of the South American tonka tree. It naturally contains coumarin. As it ripens, it develops an aroma reminiscent of almond, hay, and vanilla all at once. In France, the tonka bean has been a classic in patisserie for decades. In German-speaking confectionery, it has only recently gained wider recognition. Coumarin should not be consumed regularly in large quantities. However, in the typical dosage of a portion of bread spread, it is well below relevant threshold values. Three manufactories, three processes, one common thread: honest craftsmanship from the valleys around Bolzano.

A Gift with a Story — Not Just a Gift Basket

Most gift baskets simply add products. This set tells a story: about the apricot as the leading fruit of the Vinschgau. About three manufactories that operate within a few hours' drive of each other. About the tension between fruit and nuts at the breakfast table. It is suitable as a small gift for an invitation. Also as a thank-you to hosts or a gesture to parents and in-laws. Likewise, as a small corporate gift or a thoughtful present for a new home. Anywhere a bottle of wine would be too generic and a restaurant voucher too impersonal.

If you are looking for a savory and spicy selection with ham or cheese, you will not find it here. The set deliberately remains on the sweet, fruity side. A pure jam composition without juice and nut cream can be found in our other gift presents. The set can also be enjoyed on two occasions. The spreads and juice work as a classic breakfast gift. The almond-tonka cream remains as a small treat for afternoon coffee or espresso after dinner.

A small gift that reminds the giver for four breakfasts — and introduces three South Tyrolean manufactories with a single gesture.
