Questions about Coarse sea salt in a cotton bag?

We are happy to help you with Belamandil.

Marisol Sal Tradicional in a cotton bag – coarse sea salt from the Algarve

Marisol Sal Tradicional is a natural, coarse sea salt from the traditional salt pans of the Portuguese Algarve. It is sustainably harvested by hand as seawater evaporates in the sun and wind, and salt crystals slowly grow. The result is an authentic, mineral-rich salt with a mild flavor and characteristic granulation – packaged in a decorative 500 g cotton bag.

  • Pure natural product – no additives, anti-caking agents, or chemical treatment.
  • Traditional harvesting – hand-harvested from seawater and sun-dried.
  • Coarse grain – ideal for grinders, marinades, salt crusts, or cooking.
  • Sustainably packaged – in a reusable cotton bag, simple and natural.

Salt Craftsmanship from the Algarve

For centuries, salt has been extracted in the Algarve region using traditional methods. Marisol Sal Tradicional is produced in shallow salt pans where seawater evaporates and the salt naturally settles. It is carefully harvested with wooden tools and then sun-dried – a process that preserves its coarse texture and authentic flavor. This gentle production method retains valuable minerals and trace elements, making the salt particularly mild and balanced.

The Marisol salt pans are located in the heart of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, one of the most impressive places in the Algarve. This unspoiled landscape stretches 60km along the coast of the eastern Algarve in the greater Faro area. For centuries, salt pans have been operated in this picturesque region, perfectly integrating into the ecosystem of this National Park. Marisol is one of these salt pans, which has only been in operation again since 1997. Only with the help of the sun, seawater, and a lot of manual labor is this coarse sea salt harvested from May to September.

Sal traditional – Coarse sea salt from Marisol

The Portuguese refer to their natural, white sea salt as "Sal traditional," which is hand-harvested every two weeks using traditional wooden rakes. The Marisol Sal traditional coarse sea salt harvested in this way is neither washed nor artificially dried, so it is completely unadulterated and retains a natural residual moisture.

Versatile and Unadulterated

Thanks to its coarse grain, Marisol Sal Tradicional is perfect for salt grinders, grilling, seasoning meat, fish or vegetables, and preparing salt crusts. The coarse sea salt, Sal tradicional grosso, is particularly well suited for pasta water, cooking potatoes, and baking fish in a salt crust. It gives dishes a natural, harmonious seasoning without dominating – an indispensable companion for creative cooking.

A piece of Algarve in a cotton bag

The 500 g cotton bag is not only practical and environmentally friendly but also a beautiful eye-catcher in any kitchen. It stands for authenticity, craftsmanship, and respect for nature. Every grain tells the story of sun, sea, and traditional craftsmanship – pure, honest, and unadulterated.

Coarse, natural sea salt from the Algarve. Hand-harvested, sun-dried, and sustainably packaged in a 500 g cotton bag – mild, mineral-rich, and perfect for seasoning.

Belamandil
