Wool, virgin wool, or lambswool – what's the difference?

Wool is a natural and renewable raw material. This blanket is made of 100% lambswool. Lambswool refers to the wool from a sheep's (or lamb's) very first shearing, within the first 6 months of life. It is particularly soft because the fibers are still very fine. Like virgin wool, it is also obtained from live sheep, usually in spring, as much as possible in one piece. After shearing, the wool is combed and loosened before being beautifully dyed saffron yellow and spun into yarn. The Klippan Velvet blankets are then woven from this wool. Lambswool is said to be hardly scratchy, breathable, and to have excellent insulating properties. It warms in winter and cools in summer. Klippan does everything to ensure the blanket feels soft; for this, the lambswool is extra pre-combed, but this quality is naturally scratchier than a cotton blanket would be, and especially at the beginning, the blanket sheds a bit.
