Karl May – Blood Brother Rosé – Organic Wine
The Karl May Blood Brother Rosé 2022 is a dry cuvée from the winery of Fritz and Peter May in Osthofen, Rheinhessen. Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot give the Karl May Blood Brother Rosé considerable power. On the nose, there are aromas of red fruits, such as raspberries, strawberries, and redcurrants, accompanied by notes of fresh red pepper and a delicate herbal spice. On the palate, it is juicy, berry-like, fresh, with a medium body, good acid balance, and a long-lasting finish.
When two brothers cultivate a winery in Winnetou-Old-Shatterhand-like harmony in the eternal expanse of the Wonnegaus, and that winery is authentically and honestly named Karl May, then there simply must be wines named BLOOD BROTHER. After the red and white Blood Brother wines have become true classics, the time was ripe for a strong rosé. Not a watered-down pink beverage, but a powerful, bone-dry wine in the familiar Blood Brother style. Yeehaa! In all three Blood Brother cuvées, a local grape variety is married with an international one.
It is the perfect wine for a pleasant evening and a good companion to pizza, pasta with tomato sauces, or grilled food, which can be enjoyed well chilled. A rosé for real men.
Karl May Wine – Preparation
The grapevines for this red wine cuvée from the Karl May winery grow in organically managed vineyards in various locations with sandy loess-loam soils. To harvest ripe grapes in autumn, Fritz and Peter May begin as early as January with gentle pruning and early defoliation of the grape zone for optimal sun exposure, as well as yield reduction through green harvesting. The early, selective hand-picking of the grapes takes place in several passes. The journey to the new winery is not far, where the grapes are gently processed further. After a short maceration period, the mash is gently pressed, and the must is spontaneously fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks.
