Enjoy the Sauvignon Blanc from Weingut Karl May
The Karl May Sauvignon Blanc 2023 is an organic estate wine from Weingut Karl May in Osthofen. This dry organic white wine is characterized by aromas of green apple, gooseberry, and fragrant elderflower. An aromatic wine: dry, finely spicy, with a medium body, good acidity balance, and moderate alcohol content.
Great Sauvignon Blancs are no longer exclusively from New Zealand or South Africa; the Mays also know how to coax out the cassis and elderflower aromas. The Karl May Sauvignon Blanc pairs perfectly with a wide variety of dishes and is simply enjoyable. Its fragrance makes it perfect for Asian cuisine, fish and seafood, or dishes with light poultry like lemon chicken. The enjoyment experience is particularly intense when served at 8 – 10°C in a good white wine glass.
Winemaking – Karl May
The vines for this Sauvignon Blanc estate wine from Weingut Karl May grow in organically managed vineyards in various locations with sandy loess-loam soils. To harvest ripe grapes in autumn, Fritz and Peter May begin in January with gentle pruning and early defoliation of the grape zone for optimal sun exposure, as well as yield reduction through green harvesting.
The selective hand harvest of the grapes often takes place in several passes. The journey to the new winery is short, where the grapes are gently processed further. The mash is gently pressed, and the must is spontaneously fermented, remaining on the lees for a long time and aged in stainless steel tanks.
