Vinfabriken – Småland Glögg from Sweden
The Vinfabriken Småland Glögg is a mulled wine based on cranberry and apple wine, originating from the southern Swedish province of Småland. Wild cranberries growing there give the Glögg its aromatic, full character. Cinnamon, cloves, and coriander give it its balanced spice.
The word Glögg is the shortened form of "glödgat vin" and basically means nothing more than mulled wine. Glögg is sometimes also referred to as Swedish punch or Swedish mulled wine.
Glögg – Swedish Tradition
Traditionally, Glögg is drunk in Sweden during Advent and especially on St. Lucia's Day. It is accompanied by lussekatter (sweet saffron buns) and gingerbread. In the run-up to Christmas, non-alcoholic Glögg is also offered everywhere in Sweden at any time of day. Enjoy it steaming hot in good company, then the cold won't stand a chance, at least for a while.
We recommend serving Vinfabriken Smålandsglögg according to Swedish tradition in a mug with a spoon. Cover the bottom of the mug with finely chopped almonds and raisins and fill it with the carefully warmed Glögg.
