Fred Loimer – Sekt Brut Rosé Reserve [ORGANIC]
The Loimer Sekt Brut Rosé Reserve is a superb sparkling wine from winemaker Fred Loimer in Langelois in the Kamptal region. Made from Zweigelt, Pinot Noir, and Sankt Laurent grapes, this sparkling wine impresses with subtle, long-lasting effervescence, develops splendidly with air, offering yeasty notes, plum cake, and cherry strudel, playing to its strengths on the palate with subtle fruit, fine mousse, white nougat, hazelnut cake, a pleasant mouthfeel, wonderfully integrated acidity, very close to champagne. A sparkling rosé experience!
Fine Austrian sparkling wine has been produced in Langenlois for decades. A handful of established sparkling wine producers in the town have built and consolidated the quality of Kamptal sparkling wines over the years. Until 1998, sparkling wine was also produced at Weingut Loimer. Now, after a 17-year hiatus, the method of classic bottle fermentation is being reintroduced at the winery, this time with the active support of Andreas Wickhoff MW, who plays an important role in base wine production, blending, and marketing. The wines come from vineyards in Langenlois and Gumpoldskirchen and were produced according to the biodynamic guidelines of the Respekt winegrowers' association. Four sparkling wines are produced using the "méthode traditionnelle" – the classic secondary fermentation in the bottle – and serve to consolidate Langenlois' reputation as a sparkling wine stronghold.
