The Wok Ring Grate T4 is a stainless steel attachment for the Thüros T4 with a 25-centimeter opening that holds a wok over the embers and offers grilling surface next to it. No wok included, no replacement for the grill grate, only for the T4.
The Wok Ring Grate T4 has a ring diameter of 25 centimeters and is only suitable for the Thüros T4. A wok needs a heat source that acts locally from below and heats the walls. A gas stove can do this, a ceramic hob cannot – and a charcoal grill actually can, if the wok is positioned correctly.
Why a ring instead of a grate
On a flat grate, a wok with a round bottom wobbles. It rests on three points, slips when stirred, and allows heat to pass by the sides.
The ring securely holds the wok and lowers it into the embers. The flames and radiant heat enclose the bottom instead of passing by it. This allows the wok to reach the high temperatures that make quick searing possible in the first place.
Grilling and Wokking at the same time
The attachment is not only a wok holder but also a grill grate. Next to the ring, there is space where meat or vegetables can be placed.
Our tip: Prepare all ingredients before the wok gets hot. On charcoal, the heat cannot be regulated, and when wokking, seconds count. Anyone who cuts during the process will have burnt vegetables.
Stainless steel V2A like the entire grill
Made of non-magnetic V2A stainless steel. The attachment lies directly over the embers and gets correspondingly hot without permanently deforming.
After wokking, burnt-on oil often remains on the ring. This is best removed while the part is still warm. Tarnishing in gold and blue is normal after the first use.
What else you need
The wok is not included. The Thüros stainless steel wok with a 35-centimeter diameter and wooden handle is suitable.
The attachment is not suitable for other Thüros models; the cutout only fits the T4. And for those who own a coated wok: on charcoal, the coating will overheat and give out. Uncoated steel belongs here.
