Hay – the scent of the Alps
The scent of sun-dried HAY evokes a special feeling of well-being. Our local mountain meadows are home to a wide variety of grasses, alpine flowers, and wild herbs. They guarantee alpine biodiversity, provide fresh grazing for livestock in summer, and serve as a pantry for feeding during the long winter months. The hay grass is gently cut at the peak of bloom in early June and air-dried. These Tyrolean mountain meadows provide the hay grasses that are incorporated into our solid soaps. Because grass and hay have always been and still are of great value to humans. Generations ago, people helped themselves with a handful of hay placed between a tiled stove and their back. This allowed the warmth of the hay to work its magic. And already in the 19th century, hay baths were used. With our soap, it's almost like lying in a hayloft and dreaming yourself into a blissful sleep.
Tiroler Reine – Liquid Soap by Carl Alois Walde
Tiroler Reine liquid soaps are real soaps: unlike conventional liquid soaps, they are produced by Carl Alois Walde according to traditional manufacturing methods in kettles on a soap base – without synthetic surfactants, but with natural glycerin content. The selected basic raw materials include high-quality, nourishing olive and coconut oils, beeswax, which contributes to the pleasant consistency, as well as Tyrolean beef tallow, which was already used in earlier times for soap making. This traditional and local ingredient has a refatting effect and provides a fine, creamy lather.
Tiroler Reine, an idea by Therese Fiegl, is a soap that incorporates the centuries-old knowledge of the Walde soap-making family to create distinctive soaps. Each of these great soaps tells its own story, from the washerwomen of Sellrain and glacier milk, to the alpine rose and love, the forget-me-not, the resilience of the birch, the alpine spikenard, to cowslips as harbingers of spring, the freshness of mountain mint, and elderflower, which conveys protection and security.
NOTE – Since spring 2020, Walde has been using bottles with a recycled plastic content. Walde Seifen aims to improve its sustainability in this area. However, these bottles are slightly thinner, which leads to indentations during filling. If you open the flip-top closure briefly, the indentation will equalize again.
Tiroler Reine liquid soaps contain no preservatives or emulsifiers. This can occasionally lead to changes in viscosity or color separation. Our tip provides quick relief: place the liquid soaps in a warm place for a few hours, e.g., on a windowsill in the sun, and then shake well – and the original condition will be restored.
