Tiroler Reine – Glacier Milk – Liquid Soap 300ml
The Tiroler Reine Glacier Milk liquid soap smells like laundry washed with soft mountain water. This liquid soap, which can be used for both hand washing and showering, stands for tradition.
Glacier Milk – the Scent of the Alps
The barren Sellrain Valley in the Stubai Alps offered its inhabitants a unique source as a livelihood: GLACIER MILK. This crystalline, soft water from the mountain stream Melach was excellently suited for washing laundry due to its hardness. For over 200 years, the women, men, and children of the valley were tasked day in and day out on the banks of the river in their wash houses with processing the linens of bourgeois households from nearby Innsbruck in their ovens and tubs. On sunny summer days, the valley flanks and slopes glowed white from the laundry spread out on the grass and hung between trees and bushes. Wind and sun were to dry and bleach it and impart the incomparable scent of the valley. Some of the Sellrain farmers exchanged pure beef tallow for valuable soap at the Walde soap factory. The Tiroler Reine soap combines the color of the glacier milk, which fills the mountain streams during the snow and ice melt, and the scent from grandmother's time.
Tiroler Reine – Liquid Soap from Innsbruck
Tiroler Reine liquid soaps are true soaps: Unlike conventional liquid soaps, they are produced using traditional manufacturing methods in kettles on a soap base – without synthetic surfactants, but with natural glycerin content. The selected basic raw materials are high-quality, nourishing olive and coconut oils, beeswax, which contributes to the pleasant consistency, as well as Tyrolean beef tallow, which was already used for soap making in earlier times. This traditional and local ingredient has a refatting effect and creates a fine, creamy foam.
Tiroler Reine, an idea by Therese Fiegl, is a soap that incorporates the centuries-old knowledge of the Walde soap-making family to create distinctive soaps. Each soap tells its own story, from the Sellrain washerwomen and glacier milk, to the alpine rose and love, the forget-me-not, the resilience of the birch, the Alpine spikenard, to cowslips as harbingers of spring, the freshness of mountain mint, and elderberry, which provides protection and security.
NOTE – Since spring 2020, Walde has been using bottles with a recycled plastic content. Walde soaps aims to improve sustainability in this area. These bottles are, however, somewhat thinner, which leads to indentations during filling. If you briefly open the flip-top closure, the indented area will even out again.
No preservatives or emulsifiers are added to Tiroler Reine liquid soaps. As a result, changes in viscosity or color deposits may occur from time to time. Our tip provides a quick remedy: place the liquid soaps in a warm place, e.g., on a windowsill in the sun, for a few hours, and then shake them well – and the original state will be restored.
