Alain Milliat's Apricot Bergeron Extra Jam is a French apricot jam. It is intensely fruity, not too sweet, creamy in consistency, and intensely fragrant with juicy, ripe apricots.

Alain Milliat only processes carefully selected, fully ripe fruits, which—and the Frenchman places particular emphasis on this—were harvested at the right time of ripeness, as this allows them to develop their full aromatic flavor, which is reflected in the apricot jam.

The apricots for this jam grow south of Lyon. This variety, one of France's most popular apricot varieties, originated almost by chance in 1920 in Monsieur Bergeron's orchard in Saint-Cyr. Even today, the Bergeron apricot is mainly cultivated in the middle Rhône Valley. As soon as the small apricot shimmers reddish from the outside, it is ready for harvest. Typical of the Apricot Bergeron variety is its slight acidity and its fresh, fruity taste. They reach their optimal ripeness in mid-summer; depending on the weather, they are hand-picked at the end of July.

Apricot Jam by Alain Milliat

Alain Milliat, grandson and son of a farmer, and a fruit grower himself, took over the family business in Orliénas near Lyon in 1983. For 15 years, he respectfully cared for the land entrusted to him and cultivated the best fruit, especially a particularly coveted cherry variety. In 1997, Maison Alain Milliat launched the project of producing high-quality juices for gourmets. Alain sent the first six juices and nectars to 60 restaurants from the Relais & Châteaux guide and eagerly awaited the sommeliers' reaction to his creations. And it was enthusiastic. This great idea allowed him to adapt the textures, sugar-acid balances, and colors of his juices to the needs of the restaurants. Driven by his success with the gourmet restaurants, with whom he still collaborates today, the passionate producer continuously develops more juices and nectars from special, hand-picked fruits that offer unique taste experiences. Someone who makes such good juice also places great importance on high quality for jams and confitures, as with this Apricot Bergeron Apricot Extra Jam. Today, Alain Milliat sources his fruits from all over France and beyond, always in optimal ripeness.
