Beetroot Spirit – Faude feine Brände

The Faude feine Brände Beetroot Spirit is a truly unusual spirit from the distillery at Kaiserstuhl. Master distiller Florian brings the absolute concentration of beetroot as a full-flavored spirit into the glass. Only fully ripe fruit and vegetables of the best quality are processed into delightful spirits in his distillery in Bötzingen, because the experienced distiller is certain: a good distillate begins with top-quality fruit. It's no coincidence that his brandies have received national and international awards. The Beetroot Spirit shows how experimental Florian Faude is. With this courage, classics are created that surprise, and surprises that become classics: recognizable yet unexpected. Especially with these exotic spirits, Florian, also with the help of his brother who made good contacts in Berlin, has made it into upscale gastronomy and trendy bars.

The Faude feine Brände Beetroot Spirit has a unique aroma that some love, and others Florian wants to convert with this spirit. Spicy-earthy and intense, like biting into the red tuber, it simply polarizes. A special gift with a lasting finish for all beetroot friends and Black Forest fans. This spirit not only pairs well with hearty winter cuisine or fine dishes with red or yellow beetroot, but also makes a long drink with tonic appealing to the unknown and is a creative ingredient for exciting cocktails in good home bars.

Faude Beetroot Spirit – field-fresh with a hint of sweetness

The Faude feine Brände Beetroot Spirit may at first glance cause astonishment. A distillate from beetroot first raises questions, but all of them are answered with the first sniff and turn into enthusiasm with the first sip. Clearly, with the Beetroot Spirit, distiller Florian has once again come up with something extraordinary. For his spirit, he uses field-fresh young beetroot from a farmer in Bötzingen. A strong performance that plays with its slight sweetness in the finish and brings previously unknown, fresh notes into the glass.

Spirit instead of Brandy – Florian explains

A spirit made from beetroot is not a brandy, but a Geist (spirit). "A Geist," Florian explains, "opens up possibilities for the distiller to do known things differently and to play with the unknown." Unlike brandy, Florian uses vegetables that cannot be mashed and fermented due to their low sugar content, such as beetroot. "Here we take a piece of nature," Florian continues, "steep it in the purest grain alcohol so that it can release its full aroma into the alcohol, and then distill off the flirtation after a short time. This way, only clear notes enter the distillate. What we save in time, we add in fruit or vegetables." The spirit is then reduced to drinking strength (42% vol. alcohol) with the good, soft water of the Black Forest, without the addition of sugar or colorants and without cold filtration, and filled into classic 500ml bottles. "The result: a highly harmonious paradox. Intensely fresh, immediately present, yet complex and light-footed."
