The Lakrids by Bülow D Salt & Caramel is a particularly successful combination of sweet liquorice, an incredibly good Dulce chocolate, in which the milk contained is caramelised, and a hint of sea salt. The idea of founder Johan Bülow to coat the successful Lakrids by Bülow with chocolate was daring, but success proved him right: Lakrids by Johan Bülow with chocolate was the beginning of the great Lakrids success story, from the small Danish island of Bornholm it spread throughout the world.

Lakrids by Bülow D is one of the most popular liquorice varieties. It is for everyone who likes salted caramel. The sweet Dulce chocolate with its incredible caramel flavour makes you want more. Mixed with salt, a natural flavour enhancer, you will find yourself in the culinary heaven of Lakrids.

Lakrids by Bülow D – Dulce Chocolate and Maldon Salt

• Hidden in the middle: a soft core of Lakrids 1, the sweet liquorice. This is made from the best liquorice, which Johan sources from the Middle East, Afghanistan or Calabria in Italy. Lakrids only uses the middle part, which contains the most liquorice; the rest, which does not meet Lakrids by Bülow's quality standards, is resold. Liquorice lives up to its name: it is up to 50 times sweeter than sugar.
• Around it: Dulce chocolate. This Belgian chocolate is very special because it is made using a complex process with caramelised milk. The chocolate gets a slightly yellowish colour and is therefore often called blonde chocolate. The taste is reminiscent of brioche, vanilla and, of course, caramel.
  
• Visible on the outside: salt. But salt is not just salt. Johan Bülow uses the Maldon salt, popular with chefs, for his Salted Caramel Lakrids. This salt has been extracted using a traditional process in a small town in England for over 100 years. You will love the special crunchiness of Maldon salt! The salt is also available in our shop.
